Welcome to my life and travels!
All of my life, since I was six years old, has involved traveling. Exploring new places, meeting new people, and jumping into their culture is definitely a huge love of my life! As a brief intro I have the basics of who my family is, who I am, and why I'm here.
I am one of five children, three boys and two girls. I am number four. Since I will be mentioning my family quite often: Sierra is the oldest, she successfully graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2011 and is stationed in Italy until 2019; Orion (aka Dash) is the oldest boy, he graduated from the US Air Force Academy and is working in Denver w/satellites; Journey is the middle child, he went to community college (which I highly recommend) and is working; I, Sunny, am the second youngest and you'll get to know me eventually; and Forte (aka Chopper, Choppy, Chop) is the youngest, he is a senior in high school. My parents will only be referred to as Mom and Dad. They are retired Navy and Marines, respectively.
When we started the trip we were all aged as 14 (Sierra), 12 (Orion), 9 (Journey), 6 (Me), and 3 (Chop).
On St. Patrick's Day in 2003 my family left our home in Maryland aboard the sailing vessel Leprechaun, a 54' steel ketch, and our home for the next five years. My dad had wanted to go on an adventure with his family before any of us had the chance to grow up.
So Dad and Mom went boat shopping, of course, and found a lovely ketch named Lady Lyn III, after the owner's third wife, who promptly divorced him, in Ontario, Canada. We sailed the boat from Ontario to the Chesapeake Bay, outfitted it for the Ocean, renamed it the Leprechaun, and set upon our around-the-world-in-three-years trip, which ended up taking much longer.
And that's where my travels began.
